Mayo Graduate School located in Rochester, Minnesota awarded its first PhD degree in biochemistry in the year 1917. It is a private educational institution. The School offers a PhD degree in biomedical sciences with an emphasis in one of the seven areas of specialization, viz. biochemistry and molecular biology, biomedical engineering, immunology, molecular neuroscience, virology and gene therapy, molecular pharmacology and experimental therapeutics, and clinical and translational science. The School also offers undergraduate research, additional research and medical scientist training programs.
