My University is good overall. It is a public university with lots of funding in civil engineering, chemical, computer sciences, industrial, electrical and mechanical. Public health is not good though their ranking are good but people dont get funding easily their. The atmosphere is very good. I would suggest not to look at rankings as only criteria. Look at professors and courses in the department. Mail the professors and know their research interests. Rankings alone is not enough.

I wrote GRE and TOEFL exams. I studied for two months for GRE, for TOEFL I practiced for a week. I joined classes but left it after 2 weeks. It was of no use. I joined education counselors. Though I felt it was not required. I needed a VISA, the VISA interview was good as all my documents were genuine and perfect. I had funding too. Tickets were easy to get. My destination was Tampa, Florida. I used Delta Airline. The airline was fine. I dint think they offered me any discounts. I landed at JFK, New York and then connected to TAMPA, Florida. My University if 17 miles from the airport. Baggage rules were 50 kgs * 2 and a hand bag of 22.5kg. Excess baggage allowed but we need to pay for it. There were no immigration issues. The Students of India Association provided the travel from the airport and held a session for new students together in the first week. The University also had their session with us.

People get TA, RA and GA position. There are many OPS jobs available as well. I had funding too.

I am very happy with my program. I am doing research in air transportation that I had very little idea in India. My professors are very good. Very helpful. Lecture halls and library are good.

I live with other three Indian students in a shared apartment with individual rooms. I don’t stay at University accommodation as they are expensive. We have sports facility. Almost all the games can be played in the campus. International students who try get their jobs easily. Social scene is good. Night life is very good. There are many party places. Weather is excellent. Its very hot in summer and very good in winters. Similar to India. There is an International Student Society in the University. They have all kinds of events and we regularly get emails.

University has career fair once in a semester. Different organizations also have their own career fair. Right now in this economy it is a bit difficult for international students to get jobs. We have career fairs. Students apply for jobs on their own. Their advisors usually help and recommend them. There are lot many companies attend these placement events. There is alumni society and they are very active.
